Many options: Irregular periods are one of the most common problems obgyns treat.  If this is a recurring problem you should be evaluated. Polyps, fibroids, Infections   hormonal changes can cause spotting. If there is a concern for pregnancy then do  a home pregnancy test . Needs evaluation: In this case you will need to see a doctor for an evaluation. Most likely you simply passed a large piece of your endometrial lining which is called an endometrial cast. At 47 though this should be evaluated by a sonogram and possible an endometrial biopsy.

Yes, it is: During menstruation, dead tissue are being sloughed off and you might see tissues coming out too.

Could be normal: this usually is a function of how long the blood takes to exit.  It can clump and as it comes out can combine with normal vaginal secretions and look like "tissue". It is usually harmless.

Assume not normal: If you have never experienced this before, then you should assume that there might be something going on to explain this finding.  First, you really need to check a pregnancy test.  If this is negative, then you should contact your ob/gyn who will likely schedule an ultrasound to make sure your uterus looks normal.  Old blood can sometimes look like "tissue".  Good luck!

No not normal: Please see your gyn for an exam, blood work and a pelvic ultrasound as there are both medical and minor precedures available to help stpo or lesson teh bleeding.

Hard to say: Not sure what you mean by "tissue".  Sometimes old, organized clot might look like a "tissue".  If your bleeding is excessive, you can always consult a gynecologist.
