can a woman's period (not pms, but her actual period) cause nausea, fatigue and just feeling rundown? also, i've noticed a lot of saliva production lately after i eat meals.... what coukd be causing that? acid reflux maybe?

Get it evaluated: Chronic fatigue states can have several possible causes or no underlying cause at all (chronic fatigue syndrome). Get it evaluated and consider a sleep study as well.

Many things: Symptoms are very non-specific and could be due to a variety of things (e.g. Pregnancy, endometrial changes: polyps, hyperplasia, ovarian cysts: ruptured and intact, GI issues, etc..).  Get checked out, especially if this happens on a regular basis.

Hormonal: This is not uncommon. It is a response to the hormonal changes.

Low iron?: Your hemoglobin is clearly low.  I think you would best get tested for your iron stores because I'm sure they are lower than where they should be.  Whether or not your period is responsible for such low numbers, I can't say but you should definitely see a physician for a workup on the low hemoglobin.  At age 26 you should be higher than that.

Abnormal: You should be evaluated immediately by a gynecologist.  Your symptoms are do to anemia from blood loss. Several conditions can cause abnormal uterine bleeding. This episode of bleeding can be treated with either high dose estrogen, or lysteda, or hysteroscopy & d&c. You need an ultrasound, and other blood work for further evaluation. See gynecologist now.

Yes any infection ca: Yes any infection not treated can cause fatigue for long period of time, the commonest to cause that symptoms is untreated HIV infection., infectioous mononucleosis, recurrent or chronic UTI can cause that too.You need to be checked and appropriately treated.

Thyroid/anemia: There are several conditions that can cause these symptoms. Dehydration, low thyroid,low vitamin B12 or low iron resulting in anemia are common. See your doctor for an exam and blood tests to best determine the cause and appropriate treatment.

Period. Brain Fog: Fatigue and brain fog are documented symptoms of menstruation. Hormonal fluctuations can also cause dizziness. If you would have excessive blood loss it is possible to become hypotensive which can also cause dizziness. Recommend you discuss this with your gynecologist and come up with a treatment plan. Best wishes. Under the heading of things could always be worse, i remember a woman whosemenstruation resulted every month in a two-week episode of psychosis. She would then clear completely.She was never able to leave the psychiatric facility during the entire time that i worked at this particular state hospital.Hormone fluctuations can have obvious powerful effects in predisposed individuals.

had five day period.  i am having breast painand fatigue.  what would cause this. does it make sense to do a pregnancy test still?

Yes: The bleeding does not rule out a pregnancy, so a test still makes sense.  Otherwise the symptoms are not very specific or ominous and can be watched for further developments.
