Depends upon type.: In most instances, urine should not contain any bacteria, and the presence of bacteria might indicate an infection.  Sometimes when a urine culture is collected, a few bacteria from the skin or end of the urethra may "contaminate" the urine.  In such cases, bacteria may not indicate a real disease.  Need to know type and # of bacteria and whether there are accompanying white blood cells in urine.

Mixed urine flora: Urine normally should contain salt, water and waste products. If there is infection then there should be more then 100000 colonies of one bacteria but if there are 2-3 different organisms in urine culture then it is called mixed flora and we generally recommend to repeat urine culture for better accuracy.

It means: That there are more than three germs growing in the culture, and your urine specimen was probably contaminated from external sources, such as stool.  If you are still having symptoms after you were treated with antibiotics, you need to obtain a clean catch or a catheterized urine specimen and send to lab for culture.

Urine culture: This is a contaminated specimen and it means absolutely nothing. What symptoms do you have, what does your urinalysis show, what were the results of your physical exam and basic lab tests? The internet is not a place in which to turn for a diagnosis. Good luck and you should discuss this with the doctor who ordered it. If still need results get a clean midstream catch into a sterile container.

Contaminated : Probably a specimen contaminated with bacteria in the vagina. Should be repeated, as there is no useful information there. Ask how to obtain a "clean catch" specimen. Hope this helps!

Urine Culture: You have "normal" bacteria which are not though to cause a disease (like a UTI) that grew from the culture. We have bacteria all over our body including the urological and genital areas that normally grow there. If you disagree and feel like you have a UTI, you can get the test repeated or look for other causes.
