i have had menstrual bleeding (far more than i have ever bled) for over 8 weeks. if this is perimenopause, is that normal?

Bleeding: It can be from perimenopause but it still needs to be worked up with thyroid studies, an ultrasound or sonohystogram and endometrial bx.

i think im in perimenopause. is it normal for cycles to fluctuate between 15 and 65 days during this time? had ovarian ultrasound and pap test 9 months ago all normal. wondering if irregular cycles now are menopause related or something concerning?

Accepted Answer

: Your symptoms could well be a manifestation of peri-menopausal state. Your doctor and do hormonal test to assess that. In the meantime do take contraceptive precautions.

how long can spotting last during perimenopause and is it normal? i have had 3 colposcapies in the last 10 years and they have all been normal.

Spotting @ 55: Perimenopause can cause lightened or absent periods with spotting. However, endometrial cancer also presents in the same way. Colposcopies are not the prime way to assess the endometrium as it looks at the endocervical canal and cervix itself and not the endometrium. An endometrial biopsy will tell you and your MD much more about why you are spotting if this is worrisome.

Sometimes, yes: Weight gain is a factor of declining estrogen ovarian production, decreased thyroid hormone production and metabolism, and estrogen conversion of androstendione to estrone from peripheral fat storage. Caloric restriction, and exercise is tantamount to reducing weight gain during this transition to menopause.

Go see your GYN for: A blood test, pelvic exam, paps smear and a pelvic ultrasound to check for hormonal balance, thickening of the endometrial wall and tumor etc. God bless you!

: This is normal at your age. Your OBGYN doctor will explain your situation upon request and future expectations.

Maybe : Not sure exactly what you mean but it is normal for periods to change as you approach perimenopause. Some get lighter. Some get heavier. Most start to spread out and become infrequent.  Endometrial ablations are a popular option during this frustrating time.

in perimenopause, last period was 2 months ago, but for 2 days i am having some pink when wiping, is this serious or normal?

Normal: What you described fit in with usual symptoms around menopause. If the symptoms persist beyond two weeks, it would be prudent to consult your gynecologist. You should use birth control for a year past your last period.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

i am 41 and for the past few years my periods have only lasted for a few days. is this normal at my age? is this the beginnings of perimenopause?

Maybe: This could be just normal variation. You  should talk with your doc and have some labs drawn.
