Your doctor: Did your doctor order the test or was it something you did on your own? All lab test results need to be interpreted in the clinical context. Please discuss it with your doctor and avoid using tests done on your own as these are usually not helpful.

hello. i had folate and b12 levels tested independently through a lab. my results were as follows: b12 is 683 and folate is written as over 24.0 ng/ml. can someone please offer an interpretation of these results? is this ok?

: Your lab tests should be reported and interpreted by the ordering doctor, unless somehow, you managed to do this "independently".
Nonetheless, the values are completely normal and do not  represent areas of concern.

what is a control:positive in a western blot test? all 10 bands negative & interpretation says neg for hiv 1&2. lab said it's a test setting. help!

Quality control: In a lab test, the control is the test done by the lab at the same time as when the lab tests the patient's sample. If the control test worked properly, meaning it was positive when a positive control result was expected, or it was negative when a negative control result was expected, then the lab knows that the testing done on the patient's sample is reliable and accurate.

See below: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, from the data you provided, you mother is not deficient in alpha 1 anti-trypsin.

: You should give us the Hb, MCV &amp; MCH if these tests are done for the etiology of anemia. By these numbers, you do not have anemia due to hemolysis, multiple myeloma, less likely iron deficiency but chronic kidney disease-related anemia could not be ruled out. In early stage of CKD, erythropoietin level is still normal and it should be high if you have anemia due to non CKD related diseases.

Need more info: All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, you low total serum proteins and fatty liver suggest poor nutrition, despite your weight gain. Talk to the doctor who ordered these tests.
For good health - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

Anemia: I assume you mean 7.6 for the hemogobin, which is anemia - too few red blood cells.  The MCV is the volume, or size of the red blood cells.  If the body doesn't have some key nutrients (b12, folate, (folic acid) etc) it cannnot put the cells together well and they end up large (mcv > 100).  With iron eficiency the MCV is often low.  Your doctor will probably start by checking those levels.
