Pain: Your lower colon, in a way wraps around or near your uterus.  When you have your period your uterus releases various inflammatory products. When you stool at that time this causes the colon to contact the uterus and cause pain.

Pain with stool.: This scenario would be consistent with either internal hemorrhoids or anal fissure.  Treatments exist for each, so your doctor should be made aware of this.

Rectal Pain: Many reasons could cause rectal pain such as hemorrhoids or anal fissures. You should see a gastroenterologist for a formal exam and possible anoscopy (endoscopic) evaluation

Headaches: Straining for bowel movements can increase intra abdominal and intra cranial pressure. Most of the time there is no threat to brain vessels. Very very rarely if a person has brain artery aneurysm then there is a possibility of rupture and bleeding in side the brain, which can lead to severe sudden headache, coma and death if not taken care quick;y.

wednesday, had bladder tumor scraping done, still urinate light tinged blood after finishing urination, and either during or after bowel movements? no discharge, things have seemed to heal. but little blood after urination/bowel mvmnts passing clots?

Improvement: If the amount of blood in urine is decreasing you may watch and wait. Healing may take a week or two. If you still passing blood tinged urine at two weeks after the procedure, it would be prudent to consult your doctor.

Constipated?: Colonics &amp; purges are popular but should be avoided &amp; can not be recommended (see earlier healthtap answers). Use of irritant laxatives are safe for the short-term only. Fiber supplements, stool softeners, &amp; lavage agents like MiraLAX (polyethylene glycol) are safe. Rx drugs are available based on work-up of your cause of constipation. However, patients define "constipation" differently than doctors--what's your issue?

Valsalva maneuver: Straining at defecation causes an abrupt drop in bp. Although you note that your BP is "normal", it's the fall in BP that causes dizziness and it's likely that yours falls with valsalva (straining) as does everyone's. Your lactose intolerance and IBS may have caused some volume contraction - you can counteract this by pushing fluids and liberalizing your salt intake. Good luck!

Not normal: You normally should not be straining or pushing during bowel movements. If you are having pain as well, you may have an anal fissure. This is a crack in the anal opening. Can be painful and also make anus feel very tight.

You may need a doctor for this. Try adding fiber and fluids, and soaking in warm water with epsom salts. If you have bleeding or pain worsens, see a doctor.

what causes a bowel movement during sex?

Reasons....: Not evacuating before sex-you should do this.  But the stimulation of the rectum/colon during sex, will increase colonic contraction, and hence, the need to evacuate!
