can excessive masturbation cause testicular atrophy? mine look and feel a lot smaller as a result of it and i'm worried that i'm causing hormonal imbalances and decreasing levels in testosterone. will i be able to recover from this?

: Your worries are not supported by any scientific evidence.  Longstanding untreated varicocele of grade 3 can lead to testicular growth arrest though.

i have vaginal bleeding. i did hysterectomy and ovariectomy. i take hrt . the swab is negative. no athrophy. could it be an hormonal disbalance?

Accepted Answer

Side effect: Vaginal bleeding is a side effect of hrt if part of the uterus was left in place.  Young women typically need to have higher doses of hormone as in birth control pills.  If this is not the issue d/w your doctor what other causes could be.

Yes if sperm present: You might be a candidate for testicular sperm extraction ; in in vitro intracytoplasmic sperm injection (icsi) into partner's ovum.

Not usually: Unless the remaining ovaries are pathologically producing excess androgens(male hormone) from an enclosed tumor, then no. The ovaries will continue to function post op the same as pre-op unless their vascular connection is compromised during surgery. If there is a hormonal imbalance, the source could be with other endocrine organs such as the adrenal gland.

Accepted Answer

Interpretation: A fibroid is a smooth muscle growth in your right section at the top of your uterus next to the right Fallopian tube. It is in the process of "falling apart"(degenerating) which can cause bleeding and pain. The right ovary is shrunken (atrophic) which is common in post menopausal women.

Catamenial seizures: Catamenial seizures are related to neuronal sensitivity due to hormonal changes. Hysterectomy by itself without oophorectomy does not affect hormones and therefore will not have any effect on seizures.

i had knee partial  menisectomy of lateral post horn two weeks ago.  i am doing some post - op physiotherapy.i also have atrophy after the surgery,  i am sensing pain in patella while climbing up and down the stairs. is it common after menisectomy ?

Knee pain: If you are still having pain after having the surgery, I would recommend that you continue physical therapy and add some non-weight bearing muscles to strengthen the quadriceps and hamstring muscles. This may include resistance exercises to strengthen the quadriceps.  I would also recommend a topical NSAID over-the-counter to be applied 2-3x/day.  Follow-up with your surgeon as well.

1yr ago removed implant for distal humerus elbow fracture. arm partial stiff & triceps atrophy, no progress. continue physio, try surgery, or no hope?

Get 2nd opinion: Elbow fractures that require orif( open reduction and internal fixation) are prone to elbow stiffness. If p.T./ bracing( dyna splint to improve extension) is not improving your motion consider seeing an ors who is proficient @ elbow arthroscopy. Arthroscopic release can improve elbow motion dramatically in some pts. It can be technically demanding so speak w/ your ors and see if this is an option.

You must see your primary doctor and let her/him know what your symptoms are.
After that management can be started.
