i'm kinda of confused because my preauricular and parotid lymph nodes are swollen,  but i don't have any other symptoms. they hurt :(  is that normal?

Seek Medical exam: You will benefit from seeing an ENT doctor and get examined by him/her to find the cause. It is unusual site of lymph node enlargement unless something serious is going on in your body.

i have had surgery twice of the parotid gland(pleomorphic adenoma). now from last 1 month my intra parotid lymph nodes are swollen, why?

Many possible reason: If you are certain this is an intraparotid lymph node (as opposed to a nodule of recurrence of pleomorphic adenoma), there could be many possible causes ranging from some infection, to inflammatory diseases either specific to the parotid or more general, to some other tumor.  The person who did your most recent parotid surgery is probably in the best position to answer this question.

Previous infection: The parotid gland is the saliva gland behind our jaw and under our ears, and it contains lymph nodes. These lymph nodes may become larger in response to infection. Intraparotid subcentimeter lymph nodes are likely in response to previous infection (upper respiratory, oral, skin, for instance). Your friend may need formal evaluation by an ENT doctor for reassurance, however.

what would cause one superficial parotid lymph node (on the left side only) to be swollen for multiple weeks? no fever, not sick, no other symptoms?

: Often feeling it all the time may irritate it and make it more palpable. Or check with dentist.

Lymphadenopathy : In general, it is true that lymph nodes less than 1.5 cm are not  clinically concerning. Imaging such as ultrasound or CT scan can sometimes elucidate atypical changes. It also is important that the history and clinical context for each individual patient can change the approach and concern about  enlarged lymph nodes.

: Good news. There's no evidence of malignancy in that lymph node.  However, is there concern about the parotid gland itself?  That would be another matter. As always, your physician is best to interpret test results and advise you.

See your MD: An proper medical examination with an oral surgeon or head and neck specialist would enable you to get a proper diagnosis and have treatment options explored so that your symptoms can be treated, .

i have a swollen lymph node (1,2cm)in the parotid left gland under ear. i touch it all time because i am anxious about it and i feel it is bigger beacause of it. i did ultrasound said reactive. how can i reduce it?

Accepted Answer

: You can reduce it only addressing the cause of enlargement. You could watch and wait. You may feel the nodes every couple of weeks, if any of the lymph glands doubles in size, becomes painful, ulcerates, or other nodes become enlarged, or you develop fever, or lose weight, you should see a doctor.
