when are palpitations dangerous? i've had over 100 ecg tests. 2x echo tests. 2x 24 hour holter monitor. all normal. dr says i only have ectopic beats. never had longer monitor. palpitations feel strong recently. can these kill me?

: With that level of prior study all proving normal the issue is likely not your heart. Health focus is often a subconscious coverup for other things in life you haven't identified or dealt with. I would find a life coach/therapist, learn stress management &amp; relaxation techniques and on the way you may discover some trigger issue you will then have the help &amp; ability to deal with.

Tricyclics: It is very  important that you speak call  doc or psychiatrist today about amytriptyliine as it is a tricyclic antidepressant and these are known to be contraindicated in those individuals with a cardiac problem history.  They can affect electrical conduction in the heart.   Do so soon..  SSRI's are a much safer and modern route to curtailing the  panic attack/ anxiety.   Take care.

Magnesium safe but:: Magnesium is not dangerous and usually helps prevent palpitations. You don't say what form of Mag.; some forms like mag. oxide are very poorly absorbed and thus may have a laxative effect. Mag. taurate and glycinate are best absorbed. The palpitations are likely a coincidence. As for if they are dangerous, most are benign but can not tell for sure without an EKG.

Zoloft/ palpitations: At least 1 in 100 people taking Zoloft (sertraline) will experience palpitations so you could be having more on the drug. To determine the significance of the increasing palpitations, I'd contact your doctor to examine you and see if a Holter monitor is indicated ( 24 hr. continuous monitoring of one's heartbeat with a symptom log kept to correlate palpitations to actual heart rhythm when they  occur).

It may be normal for you but there are a few abnormalities that could make this a more prominent symptom for you.
