Carpal tunnel : syndrome, is a condition where the nerves in the arm/wrist area are crowded and compressed. The bones in arm/wrist area, radius and ulna, form a channel for the nerves and blood vessels. Inflammation  or edema can cause enough pressure to impede the function of the nerves. Medications, braces, and surgery are options. See you doctor to get an exam and treatment plan.

Possible CTS: This may be Carpel Tunnel Syndrome, or compression on the median nerve.  Yes, a splint will help.  If it is not this, a splint will not hurt your condition either.

Yes, you need an exam, but no urgency unless coldness, lack of blood supply,  or severe pain.

will a broken elbow (vertical fracture on the radial head) cause pain and weakness in wrist/hand? or could it be a whole other injury? ive been having a hard time moving my hand and wrist. fingers have been swollen and i cant move my hand palm up?

: A nerve injury due to a broken elbow can cause wrist and hand weakness but it should not cause the swollen fingers. You probably have a hand injury at the same time. You should be re-examined and may need to have X-ray of the wrist &amp; hand done.
