You : You need to experiment with different positions in order to find the most comfortable for you. In addition consider a visit with a physical therapist that specializes in vaginal issues. She will likely be able to teach you exercises and positions that may be helpful. In addition vaginal dilators may be beneficial.

Estrogen: It sounds like you had a hysterectomy but ovaries were left intact.  Ovaries are the source of estrogen which helps to keep the elasticity in the vagina and prevent painful intercourse.  Having said that, as we age estrogen levels go down and that could be the cause of pain. You may want to see a doctor about a prescription?  Also, with history of yeast infxn, want to make sure it isn't yeast.

No reason not to: I'm not sure what you mean by "thickening". I assume your doc said the lining of your uterus (endometrium) is thicker than expected for 35. That causes excess vaginal bleeding & over time increases risk of uterine cancer. Since the most common cause of endometrial thickening is excess body weight, exercise can decrease the problem. Please do any follow up testing your md advises .. & exercise away.

Yes it can: yes it can tilted uterus can pulled against the round ligament and cause pain acted like a swing you make between two tree and you sit on the swing and you swing and turn all pressure will be against the trees
see your GYN there is some exercise can teach you to minimize the tilting specially while you are having pain one of the is like kneeling on the floor and push you head forward

I tell my pts: Can exercise but no abdominal exercise for 4 months after delivery as it can ruin your rectus abdominus muscles, your stiches should be healed in your uterus at 3 mos  have more chance of havinbg problems form your fascia layer or other stiches.

Not dangerous: Its not dangerous to get an IUD if you have a tilted uterus.  When the IUD goes it, it cramps like a bad period for a few minutes but isn't screaming pain.  Best wishes!

Yes.: If you're sure you have a tumor and it's painful, you should get it removed especially before it can get malignant.  There are ways to do this and keep your womb intact so you can have kids.  So talk to your doctor and get it removed.  Good luck!

Many things: Could be due to a sexually transmitted infection; could be due to fibroid tumors causing more pain/cramping of the uterus following intercourse; could be referred midline painfrom an ovarian cyst.  Could be a UTI or interstitial cystitis (an inflammatory condition of the bladder, that is often associated with painful intercourse).  Some lab testing and eval by gyn would be prudent if it persists.

my uterus is slightly tilted backwards and i have very painful periods. is there a way to treat this?

Accepted Answer

NSAID: There is nothing you can do about the tilted uterus and it doesn't usually cause any problems.  Painful periods are not caused by tilted uterus.  The simplest thing you can try is take Ibuprofen or other NSAID (nonsteriodal inflammatory drugs) medications.  It is usually effective.

Watch for symptoms: it's not uncommon for a single menstrual cramp to to cause a sharp episode of pain that goes away rapidly. It does not always happen again but if it keeps on happening, that can be a sign that you need to see a gynecologist to be examined for any changes in your uterus or pelvic area, it can also be your ovaries. keep track of your symptoms
