i've got a little soreness around my front two knuckles and the webbing when i clench my right hand hard. i was doing hours of wood work with some trees since last saturday. feels better when i stretch out my fingers. what is it and what can i do?

: Muscles and ligaments in the hand can get overworked, just as in any other body part. Stretching, massage and lots of fluid intake can help wash out the lactic acid that has formed within the muscles, causing soreness/stiffness.

what do you suggest if my little finger will not straighten out?

Hand therapy: You may have a contracture in your little finger due to spasticity or immobility. Go to your doctor to have an exam and see if you can get a referral for some hand therapy to work it out. If necessary, your doctor can also refer you to a hand surgeon who in difficult cases can do a release or z plasty, sometimes injections, to help you get your pinky working normally again. Please do NOT: Amputate your finger. I strongly encourage you to get involved in therapy right away. Recommend seeing a doctoral level behavioral health provider. Cognitive behavioral therapy may be effective for you.

Curled ?: There are normal variants usually of the little finger turning in toward the 4 th called clinodactyly that vary from mild to dramatic. These involve bony changes that remain through life. What you mean by curled ringer is not clear, but I have never seen it &amp; it will likely require an x-ray &amp; exam to provide your answer.

Simple Treatment: The real question is what not to do that slows down healing. Avoid using alcohol, peroxide, hibiclens, betadine, and bleach solutions. Inflammation ( red, hot, swollen, tender) is important to healing  so anti-inflammatories (motrin, advil) are bad. Cover the area with a clean dressing changed every other day  and protected from trauma.  Antibiotics do not help healing unless it is truly infected.

Cubital tunnel: It could be cubital tunnel syndrome - a pinched nerve at the elbow. A hand surgeon can make the definitive diagnosis and treat.

can you tell me in humans, clinodactyly (bent little finger) is inherited would be affected with and show clinodactyly?

Clinodactyly: means cooked  finger in greek, (dactylos:finger) it runs in families but is not purely genetic, may vary in generations andean be associated with genetic syndromes (illness that r uncommon but that a pediatrician would pick up on) Typically the little figer distal joint is bent in a bit but no problem results no treatment is needed.  It just a minor cosmetic variance

Nerve pinch?: It could be a nerve pinch in your arm/hand. Have a doctor check it.
