Several possibilites: Some of the causes of pain under the jaw(mandible) include dental infections, inflammation or infection of salivary glands and formation of a stone in the ducts leading from the salivary glands.  

If the discomfort persists for several days you need to see your physician for an examination.

More information: I wish I had some more information, like if you ever feel  your ear popping or feel like you can hear yourself talking out of that ear because if you did I'd think you have a problem with your eustachian tube. If not, I would question a possible issue with your TMJ joint. Either way, I'd suggest having your doc take a look in your ear on Monday and determine which it is (if either) and treat

Neck pain: The area you feel the pulse is I the neck, so I assume the pain is in the neck, the structures in that area are blood vessels, muscle, lymph glands and nerves.
Pain could be from any one of this. Pain from the neck joints/spines need to be considered also

Likely adenopathy: Or enlarged lymph node. In your case it seems to be reactive in response to the infection. Some remain slightly enlarged indefinitely, but the tenderness will go away as soon as the infection is gone.

Blocked salivary gla: You may have a blocked duct in your left submandibular salivary gland.Please try to massage the area as much as you can and chew sugar free chewing gum.If this does not help then  an ultrasound of the area will be useful.

You should also be checked for sleep apnea, which can produce bruxing.

TMJ or: It could be a TMJ (jaw joint) disorder. Other TMJ symptoms would be joint clicking, limited oral opening or headaches. Or a number of other things including dental or gum infection, problems in surrounding tissues (like parotid gland). I recommend you seen an oral surgeon who can examine your and make recommendations.
