Ziphoid process?: Sounds like it could be that. It looks like an arrow head pointed downwards and is attached to bottom of sternum (breastbone). Check an anatomy book or Google it. If that is not it see your doc.

Get EKG: super important to rule out cardiac cause.  right or left sided chest pain or tightness in female your age have to get EKG.  if negative EKG then couyld be simple virus to intercostal muscle strain or sprain

See your doctor: You should see your physician and have this checked out.  Generally, any pain that persists for months should be investigated, this is perhaps never more true than when it is in the chest.

Epigastric  pain: epigastric pain can be caused by many things. The most common are acid reflux or ulcers. Pain there also can be caused by the gallbladder,lungs, or rarely the heart. Depending on the quality of your pain, you might want to try antacids such as Tums (calcium carbonate) as a therapeutic trial. If that doesn't work, you should see your doctor for evaluation. Good luck.

Get evaluated now..: What you are describing sounds to me like fullness under your breastbone. This can be a heart symptom, so my best advice is for you to be evaluated pronto! i don't mean to create any alarm, but this is truly a "better safe than sorry" situation. Lgromkomd.

22 hrs ago; too late: Punched? This area is unlikely to cause massive internal bleeding. If you have severe, internal pain, a ct scan would be needed to exclude pancreatic rupture, splenic rupture or liver laceration. Flex your stomach muscles and if the pain is present when tight and relaxed, it is likely from bruising of your abdominal wall. A car accident or significant fall would be more worrisome.
