Infection: With or without the low back pain, a greed stool is frequently a sign of infection and should be cultured and treated. There are, of course, numerous causes for back pain, and this would be just one of them.

Call your physician. He or she will probably ask you to bring a stool sample to the office and come in for an examination. It's the only way to really find out.

Doctor can evaluate: Lower back pain can be due to many things. For young, active people, it is more likely due to strains and sprains, infection, occasionally arthritis. Additional possibilities include vertebral fracture, herniated disc, spinal stenosis and other compression or irritation of the nerves. Problems in the back part of the abdomen can also cause back pain, such as kidney disease, some cancers, etc...

May be your menses: What kind of iud do you have. Sometimes women can have late or light menses if it is a mirena (levonorgestrel). If it is a pargard, then generally that does not effect cycle timing and your cycle could be late due to delayed ovulation. However if the pain is persistant, i would see a gynecologist to rule out an ovarian cyst.

Exam: GI exam, CT scan and abdominal ultrasound, upper endoscopy and pancreatic scanning with comprehensive bloodwork. Pain radiating from front to back is always considered worrisome. Consult a GI expert ASAP.

Gall Bladder?: Gallstones & gall bladder disease can cause pain between the shoulder blades and then nausea & vomiting or bloating after eating some foods. He should see his doctor for evaluation on this in any event as it could be other things as well.

Strain vs. Kidneys: It might be a back strain. It could be something to do with your kidneys. The best thing to do if it hasn't gotten better is to be examined by a medical practitioner. They might have to test your urine.
