i'm just curious i had covid back in march. within weeks i noticed mild dysphagia(feels like a piece of bread stuck one side) and a nodule on left side of neck/throat within last 4 days. even with a fam history of thyroidism. could covid be the cause?

: Covid could be the cause of an enlarged lymph node, if that is what is causing your symptoms. If this continues, you should see your doctor to have this evaluated. You may need to see GI for the swallowing difficulty. If the lymph node is enlarged from Covid, this should gradually decrease in size. Good luck!

should a person with hyper thyroidism take typical thyroid  medication  like synthroid (thyroxine)?

Usually not: Usually, a person with hyperthyroidism has too much thyroid hormone in her body. One would take Synthroid (thyroxine) (synthetic hormone) to make up for a lack of enough thyroid hormone due to HYPOthyroidism. A person with HYPOthyroidism who becomes hyperthyroid due to taking too high of a dose of Synthroid (thyroxine) might be asked to take Synthroid (thyroxine) (at a lower dose) even though she is temporarily hyperthyroid.

Need to examine: There are no diets for hyperthyroidism, or a pancreas issue if you have any of these. You should see your doctor to ascertain if diagnostic testing is needed or referral to a specialist may be warranted.

Possible, but: While it could be thyroid, unlikely that it's thyroid. There are many other possibilities. See your doctor for an evaluation and he/she can tell you the cause. Besides, there's nothing you can do for it by yourself.

See your family doc: I short there is no good way for me to answer without a proper history and physical exam.  Falls in the category of PSPN.  Possibly something, possibly not.  Your family doctor or internist or a good general surgeon can help.  You may need diagnostic testing like labs or Ultrasound.

Possible: Skinny people can have more prominent thyroid gland.  get it checked by your doctor and get TSH, T3,T4 done. It is important to review with your doctor for an examination and review.

How would you know?: The greater risk is what other injuries may co-exist (e.G trachea, esophagus, blood vessels). If somehow you could prove that then only structure injured was the thyroid gland itself, then it could absolutely be ignored.

Check this out: It's hard to say what your problem may be without a more complete history, physical exam and possibly some tests. What you describe could be from causes ranging from something very benign such as muscle strain to something more serious such as thyroid diseases or even cancer. Please go to a clinic or Family Doctor's office for a complete exam to be on the safe side.
