Get basic tests: You are describing positional pain - there are many causes  - have you had a fever or sore throat ? Do you have chronic illness ? Any fall or injury?   It could be many things at your age  most of them will likely be benign . You should get an EKG / Echo and other test based on your history.

: First ideally she would have to be tested for the presence of microclots before being prescribed actual anticoagulant therapy. At this time I think such a test would only be available at a research center. I wonder if taking low dose aspirin would be worthwhile at this time. Do some research to see what centers may be doing research in the presence of microclots in these longhaulers of Covid.

Possibly...: During heart failure, fluid can accumulate in the lungs when the heart cannot pump the blood forward, out of the lungs. If there is enough fluid, when one lies flat, the fluid can move up in the chest, making breathing more difficult. Sitting the person more upright helps them to breathe easier. There are other disease where breathing would be more difficult lying down so see your doctor for eval.
