Headache: From the description, could be a sinus headache, of which can worsen in different positions. Mucus build up because of allergies and swollen sinuses is the cause. If you feel more pressure and nasal congestion, it is likely the sinuses and using a nasal steroid like Nasacort, (triamcinolone) could help. Also try steam baths to help loosen up the mucus &amp; get it out.  If no improvement, get checked out by your doc.

Anything: Headaches can come from fatigue, sleeping too much or too little, eye strain, sleep apnea, snoring, being dehydrated, having chronic sinusitis or allergies, too much caffeine or over the counter headache medication, high blood pressure or something more serious like a tumor. See your doctor and get checked.

Any allergies?: Sounds like a migraine since it is on one side of your head. Try 3 excedrine if no allergies. Lay in a dark quiet room to try to sleep. Sometimes ice held or gently pulling and releasing  the hair on that side can help. You can repeat the excedrine in6 hours if needed. It is best to treat these headaches as soon as you know you are going to get one and not wait for the pain. Else treat early!

Since there are many possibilities, have your doctor assess the problem.
