More info: The first thing one thinks of is gallbladder but more info is needed. When do you get pain? What type? How long does it last? Anything make it better? Anything make it worse? Does food affect the pain? Have you had any surgery ? How long has it been there? Have you tried any medications? Did they work? Did you injure yourself? Pulled muscle etc? Has anyone done any studies? Need a bit more.

Need evaluation: The description seems to suggest musculoskeletal pain or GI related however patients with risk factors need evaluation for even atypical chest pain.

3 weeks ago at er  severe pain in upper right rib area. i was given ultrasound,  ct scan, blood work. all tests neg. wbc hi. still w/pain vomit daily.

Need GI eval: You will need to see a gastroenterologist for further evaluation- may need to get a endoscopy to see if there is gastritis, ulcer etc.

No help online: You want to see your doctor who may refer you to a gastroenterologist or a surgeon, or go to ER, you do have upper and lower gastrointestinal problems, don't waste time online, good luck

Not fine: See a gastroenterologist. A proper diagnosis is needed. Black stool cable from bleeding in the upper gi tract unless its from taking bismuth products or iron supplements. Rectal red blood needs to be ordered explained. Inflammatory bowel disease, gall stones, gastritis, peptic ulcer, pancreatic pathology, gluten intolerance are possibilities. Get help from a specialist. ?Gastroscopy, colonoscopy

Maybe: You seem to be getting worse by the fact that ur meds don't work. The pain in the upper rib cage may represent a different and possibly a more serious problem. Get in to see ur pulmonologist.

YES. Keep in mind: that other problems can cause pain in that area as well.  Structures in that area of the abdomen include the gall bladder and bile ducts, the right upper bend of the colon, the diaphragm and small bowel.  Best wishes.  Dr. Anne

Musculoskeletal: This sounds like pain arising from the bones and muscles of the chest wall. Can be caused by an injury or overuse. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen or aleve may help.
