Throat pain: There may be may causes. You may remember getting something stuck there or swallowing something that scratched your throat. If it doesn't improve see your doctor to look at the area. All the best!

Could be: It could be your eustation tubes opening and closing... Especially if it is a clicking type sound...  That would be normal.  Otherwise i would suggest seeing a physician for an evaluation.

Referred pain.: Back pain from your throat would be very unusual. More like referred pain. I suspect you have some viral illness that can cause this. If you smoke this can also do it. If it persist you need to see your doc.

Reflux: can use antacids for immediate problem or milk. Prilosec daily is better in long term if problem is chronic.
Limit caffeine intake, alcohol, spicy foods

Nothing: Nothing. It will sit there until you swallow it or spit it out. Eventually you will start drooling.

Hard to tell: You need to see an ENT and have an exam. Imaging may be ordered to help with diagnosis. A GI may have to be consulted.

Throat pain: You have no pain when you drink or swallow solid food? I don't see how it is possible to only have throat pain when swallowing saliva but not food or drinks. Do you have anxiety disorder?

Normal functions: When you swallow, you often hear a click in your ears because the eustachian tube opens and allows air from your upper throat into the middle ear to equalize pressure. Often, there is some clicking of the larynx or voice box as it rises in your throat with a swallow. It is all normal mechanics of swallowing and most of the time people don't notice it unless they focus on it.
