whilst taking a walk, i sometimes feel a pain in my lower calf. this happens erratically whilst walking without any accident or trigger. this normally happens about 10 minutes into my walk. this has now happened on both calves on separate occasions. ?

Calf pain walking: Does it resolve with  just standing still? May be claudication - atherosclerosis of the leg vessels with narrowing of the arteries. Would follow up with vascular surgeon for testing that can diagnosis of the condition and treatment which may include medication  or  catheterization/ stenting.

Could be serious: I think your problem could be one of many possible scenarios . The most important disease to rule out immediately is whether you have venous blood clot called dvt. I would suggest you see your primary care provider immediately and have him check you.

Pop sounds Bad.: Feeling a pop in a calf, especially under the circumstances you have given, is certainly concerning. I would recommend that you see a specialist for a evaluation of your calf. Pops can be an indication of a slight tear that could lead to something more serious. Second guessing this potential problem is just not worth it.

Lots of possibles: Could be a pulled muscle, leftover pain from exercise ("doms" delayed onset muscle soreness) or a cramp. However if no change in activity, or if you have become INACTIVE,  the worty would be a clot or "DVT". These can break free and go tonthe lungs, and cause serious problems or death- get it checked-soon!

Lumps and bumps!: With a swelling or lump that is new should be checked by a doc in person.  There are many causes of lumps and bumps, most are not serious, but since you are also having pain in that leg, you need to get it examined.  See your primary care doc first, who can decide who would be the best specialist to see to diagnose and treat it.

Tendonitis likely: Sounds like achilles tendonitis if the pain originates from that thick tendon on your heel up to your calf.  The most dangerous thing would be a blood clot in your leg, typically occurs after travel or sedentary lifestyle and you get swelling in leg.  If calf is swollen and you recently traveled, see your doctor quickly.  If tender on the tendon anti inflammatories would be best if stomach OK.

Leg pain: Pain in the leg can have many different causes including disorders affecting the nerve, soft tissue, bones and blood vessels.  

Pulses need to be checked and evaluated by a physician to start, and if the blood vessels look fine, then can think about musculoskeletal cause and treatment options.

Claudication et. al.: The symptoms seem straight forward and can either be of a minor, medium or serious problem. Not knowing your age, vascular and general health levels, it is impossible to pin the true issue down. A simple evaluation could easily separate the potential causes of your cramping and pain.
