soon after i wake, i have a pain in my left side (abdomen) but it goes away after an hour or so. it reoccurs every day. what is causing this?

Doctor can check: Many things are in the upper abdomen:  stomach, pancreas, liver, small intestine, gall bladder, large intestine, abdominal muscles, etc...  An exam by a primary care doctor can help figure things out. The stomach itself and the spleen are in the left upper abdomen. Pain in the upper abdomen, especially symptoms that occur after eating, can be due to pancreatic or gall bladder problems too.

L abdominal  pain: if upper abdomen may be gastritis with or without H pylori   or may even be constipation or  ovarian condition-torsion PID ,ectopic pregnancy  or  I have seen vaginitis produce left sided pain. if lower abdomen may be diverticulitis . if pain is excruciating  you must go to the ER-call 911 if no one can take you-  as they have imaging available which may be needed

Carotenaemia: resulting from consuming large amounts of Vitamin A, often from drinking large amounts of carrot juice, is the most common cause of orange colored palms.  Orange skin discolouration can also result from:
• hyperlipidaemia
• diabetes
• renal disease
• hypothyroidism
• liver disease 
Hemochromatosis is another consideration. 
Make sure that you have had tests for these conditions (blood tests).

Diverticulitis: If you have had diverticulitis before, then  it is possible, you need to contact your doctor for antibiotics, and to be evaluated. Go on a liquid diet to minimize bowel irritation and do not use an enema if you have constipation, use miralax (polyethylene glycol). You definitely need to be checked to see if it is something else, like a kidney stone, or females can have ovarian cysts or pelvic inflammatory disease too.

Left hip/ leg pain: Follow up with doctor this week. Would consider CT of abdomen/pelvis to ensure no cancer, check renal function as that can cause anemia as well. Did you have inflammatory bowel because if that recurrs in small intestine or ileum can cause  anemia( though usuallyright side). Also consider hip films to check for arthritis.
