No: Shoulder pain from the co2 used in laparoscopy only lasts maybe 1-3 days. See your family doctor for a shoulder examination.

Hours to days: Referring specifically to laparoscopic surgery, the co2 gas mostly absorbs within hours, but can hang around for 3-5 days. Sometimes we think this is responsible for referred pain to the shoulder. It's not dangerous. Hope this helps!

I would not worry: Co2 is used because it is rapidly absorbed by the body and removed.  When the instruments are removed at the end of the case - the majority co2 ruses out.  The small amount that is left int will be reabsorbed within a few hours.

Endoscopic surgery??: Surgeons will add gas to the area to help visualize the site better.  The gas will go away on it's own over time.  I have not heard of any way to speed up the process.  If you mean gas in the stomach, just take some antacids or gas-x.

Trapped Gas: The best way to get rid of "trapped gas" after surgery is to get up often and to walk around. Otherwise, an over the counter medication such as simethicone would likely help.

What is GA?: If you were asking whether the surgery caused the hives or the opiate in the pain medication, the probability is tilted towards the pain medication.  NSAID can cause hives also.

i had a hernia repair two days ago. i have not had a bowel movement since. i have pass gas and urinated. is this normal after surgery?

Yes: Drink lots of fluid, walk frequently and reduce the use of prescription pain meds will help.  If not better in a few days, try stool softener.  As always, remember to call your surgeon to report your concerns.

is it normal to have moderate pressure in bladder while urinating 1 week post op partial hysterectomy? neg urine culture. reason for surgery was pelvic/bladder pain and bladder pain is worse now after surgery. also having lots of gas pains?

: Anytime one has problems persisting after his surgery, particularly if they are not improving, the first course should be to the surgery to perform the procedure. It is important to make sure there are no complications of the surgery. They can also check to see whether you have a urinary tract infection or some other obvious cause of the symptoms. Good luck.

Yes: The fractionated lasers that are now available do help with fine lines. If you do not have many fine lines there is a new dermal filler that is used for this.
