Inflammation : The most probable cause of  the pain at the base of  your sternum is probably inflammation. There are multiple pieces of connective tissue in this area that connect the lowest part of the sternum (xyphoid process) the the main middle part of the sternum. There are also pieces of cartilage that attach the stern to the ribs. Try applying ice for 20 minutes 3-4 x /day.

May be a normal bone: Lower part of the sternum, normal bone the  xyphoid process may feel like a lump, to make sure it is not a tumour see your doctor  , .

my sternum is painful with an egg shaped knot at the base. i had an x-ray and was told nothing looked abnormal. the pain is low grade but constant.

Sternal pain: More history and exam is needed to further make suggestions. Chances are the pain is coming from the muscles around your sternum or a cartilage attached to it. The condition is known as costochondritis. Xrays would be normal in that condition. You warm applications, anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen/naproxen would be appropriate, avoidance of activities known to make it worse.

A recent infection-: -is the best bet. Especially if you are sick now. But they may appear later @ you notice them when you are well. If no recent illness @ you are worried, have it evaluated by your PCP.

Ask the doctor: The ultrasound of the abdomen looks at the liver, spleen, gall bladder, great vessals and can see lesions in the subcutaneous tissue.  I do not know why you had the ultrasound, but whoever reviewed it wanted to see something that might be interesting in greater detail.  You will have to ask your doctor.

what causes a feeling of pressure where the sternum meets the collarbone?  right in the center at the base of the neck. pcp says heart ok.

Heartburn: For you, two likely candidates.  It may be your heartburn.  You are on a medicine for this, but maybe it is not controlling it adequately.  Look at your diet, consider increasing to twice a day (pantoprazole) for a few days.  If not that, maybe it is anxiety acting up (lump in the throat) and maybe your zoloft (sertraline) is not at the proper dose.

could this be some kind of indigestion, i have never had any before? pain right at base of rib cage on both sides runs thru the center to the top of the sternum, came on fast, not constant can be a 7 to 8 on the pain scale at times. seems like a few times

The : The pain you are describing except for the pain in your ears is consistent with acid reflux. However heart issues (heart attack, angina) often presents in a similar way. For that reason, it is important to see your doctor. An ekg will be done to determine if the heart is involved. Other testing will be done based on what your doctor feels is the cause of your symptoms.
The pain in your ears may be reffered pain or could actually signify a problem in the ear. This will need to be investigated as well.

??Gastritis: At age 25, possibly gastritis from certain foods or meds. But it may be other things as well, gallbladder disease, pancreatitis. Watch diet , take some prevacid, (lansoprazole) if not better or worse need sonogram, and of course must see your doctor.

hard, immovable, painful lump (3 cent+ if not larger) on r clavicle stretches to sternum, feels as if it ends at throat base. incr in size last 6 mos.

Infection vs cyst: Should be checked , it could be as simple as and infected skin cyst but there are developmental cyst s in this area which may need excision    with double vision may be related to thryoid   any trouble breathing? See md.
