Allergy to oxy/vicod: It is unlikely as oxycodone and hydrcodone the med in vicodin are both different synthetic compounds, and vicodin also contains acitamnophen and hives may be from that as well.

Several causes: It depends on dose, idiosyncratic (personal) response to opioids and type of opioid used. At your age, I'm more concerned as to identifying better strategies to treat your pain than using opioids. Please consult a board certified neurologist.

Possibly: Overdose is always a possibility when dealing with narcotics.  Each person and their history are required to answer completely.  If this person is chronically using large doses of narcotics then they will have a tolerance to these drugs and will require more than the average non narcotic using patient to experience respiratory depression and death.  Narcotics are dangerous period.

YES: You cannot take other narcotics when you are under care of a physician. They will check and you may fail and possibly be terminated from treatment.

Opiates: Hydrocodone is derived from codeine. It is given by mouth/rectal/intranasal routes. Oxycodone is derived from thebaine. It is administered by oral/rectal/intranasal/epidural/transdermal routes.

trying to figure out my allergies. i get hives from vicodin, morphine, nsaids, codeine. does that mean also allergic to percocet? how about oxycodone?

Likely: The reaction from codeine, Vicodin, Morphine etc are not truly allergic reaction but from these drugs' ability to release histamine from your cells. Thus you will not likely tolerate any drug in the opiate group. NSAIDs can also cause hives (which are considered allergic in some) but more likely aggravates an existing episode of hives regardless what may be causing it. Need more information.
