Allergy to oxy/vicod: It is unlikely as oxycodone and hydrcodone the med in vicodin are both different synthetic compounds, and vicodin also contains acitamnophen and hives may be from that as well.

YES, probably: Different opioids have different abilities to stimulate mast cells to release histamine, the substance that causes the skin to make wheals, or hives. These reactions are not allergies, meaning you do not need prior exposure and antibody production in order to react.
