It's there...: It's a good choice for women with overactive bladder and urge incontinence. I often use it for urinary urgency in both males and females, although, i prefer an immediate release formulation. It's been shown to work in men with benign prostate hypertrophy to improve their urination.

Ditropan (oxybutynin): Oxybutynin is a generic medication in the class of "antcholinergic" drugs.  It is often prescribed for overactive bladder to relax the bladder.  It is typically well tolerated but can cause dry mouth, dry eyes, constipation and confusion in older patients.  The risk of side effects increases with the dose.

3.9mg/day: I believe there is only one dosage available for the pacth--oxytrol which is 3.9mg/day to be applied 2x/week patch. I could be wrong on this but it is the only that I am aware of up to this point. You may want to double check with your doc or your local pharmacist. Good luck.

Here are some ...: Its standard dose for adults is 5 mg orally 3 times daily, occasionally, may be up to 10 mg 3 times under close supervision. As to how much an individual can take, it's something to do individual age and health state, especially with liver function; these are similar to the concern of using other drugs. So, following recommended dose is the rule for all drug use. If needed to up or down dose, ask.
