If there is redness : If the area becomes more swollen, red or painful it is likely you have an infection and not just a spider bite. We often see patients in the ER with "spider bites" which turn out to be infections from hair, pimple or boil these often grow MRSA or resistant Staph infection so it is better to get it checked sooner rather than later if it is looking red or infected. Improve not remove: Micro or traditional dermabrasion with or without the use of chemical peels as well as various agents such as bleaching agents or Alpha and beta hydroxy acids may provide some improvement in the appearance of scars, in the meantime use sunblock and avoid tobacco use. Topical or oral antibiotics may help i'm certain instances.

Stop the cream: I recommend stopping the cortisone cream. It is a steroid and can thin out the vulvar tissue. If you do have an ingrown hair you can apply a warm washcloth to the area to see if the plugged area opens up.
