DryEyes/lacrilubeNP: It is basically an ophthalmic lubricant. Often styes will heal on their own w/o treatment. Warm compresses may speed up the extrusion of pus from external stye. Internal styes can be uncomfortable, but often also heal on their own. At times, topical antibiotics are needed, but not too often.

i have a stye in my eye and its swollen what can i take to relieve the swelling its been two days? is there anything over the counter?

Compresses: I would try very warm moist compresses (as warm as you can tolerate) for 15 minutes every few hours.  That can help "draw out" the infection and swelling.  Do not squeeze it or try to drain it yourself.  If you've had it more than a few days or it's causing discomfort or vision problems, see your doctor who may prescribe antibiotic eye drops or ointment.  Ask a pharmacist for otc treatments.

Use topical heat: Run a washcloth under very warm, but not hot, water and apply it to your closed lids at least four times per day for five minutes each.  This usually gets rid of styes.  Over the counter products are useless as they cannot penetrate a stye.

Infection: Eyelid infections are common. This is likely a blepharitis or possible cholazion. Warm compress and perhaps topcial antibiotic.  This is Healthtap general  site. Not really: When warm compresses &amp; cleaning the lash line have not helped in weeks, sometimes the only good option is having it opened &amp; drained by an eye surgeon.

Many questions here: Externally applied medication does not affect styes.  Generous application of heated cloths is the best remedy. A stye is an infected lid gland.  If the body's battle to get rid of the stye is only partially effect, it may surround the stye with a cyst wall termed a chalazion. Styes are not infectious and not related to contact lens wear.

i he small little bump in my lower eyelid. it does not hurt @ all. i'd love 2 get rid of it. i don't know if it's a stye. is there anything over the counter i cn buy 2 reduce the size & get rid of it? if it has to b removed wht doctor wd do it?

stye: A stye is an inflamed oil gland on the edge of your eyelid, where the lash meets the lid. It appears as a red, swollen bump that looks like a pimple. It is often tender.Treatment starts with heating for ten minutes to thin the oil and then trying to squeeze it out. If not successful in draining it, one goes to the eye md for surgical drainage. Rosacea is a risk factor.
