May not be ringworm: You skin condition may not be ringworm if it has not responded to over the counter treatment. May be it is time to see a doctor for an evaluation and proper treatment based on correct diagnosis.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

what is the cream for ringworm that i can get it over-the-counter my son is only 8 yrs. old and have this ringworm... looking for a cream that i can buy from the pharmacy without any prescription....

Clotrimazole : Clotrimazole is the generic name for the over the counter cream that treats ringworm.  Apply 2-3 times a day for a few weeks until the lesion disappears completely and then some.  Keep it covered for the first day of treatment (or longer if you want to) to prevent spread.  Your child will need to see his doctor for a stronger medication if the ringworm is on his scalp, continues to spread after treatment at home or if it doesn't get better after 4 weeks of treatment at home.

i was diagnosed with a ringworm and i did the cream for four weeks and its still there but its getting lighter but im using over the counter ant fungus cream should get looked at again or just keep doing the cream until its gone?

: You can kill all the fungus associated with ringworm and it will still take weeks before the skin appears normal. Run the tips of your fingers over the site. If the skin feels rough it is not responding and may not be ringworm. If the skin surface feels similar to the surrounding skin, it is responding. If concerned the doc can still check the sites.

Yes: There are several. Lotrimin &amp; clotrimazole are easy to find. These will usually work on regular skin ringworm but nothing OTC will cure it if it is in the scalp.

Perhaps it's not : Athletes foot? You may want to try a different cream....which one were you using? Consider adding a topical steroid if the itching is bad...I think you can get a one percent hydrocortisone OTC.

Not fungal: Heat rash is not a fungal infection and is best treated with cool soothing oatmeal baths and applying corn starch powder before exercising or going out in the heat. You could if needed apply Chlohexidine  2% to 4% to the affected area for 15 seconds and rinse, avoiding eye contact

I am not sure: I know the pharmacists is telling you the truth because the knowledge with topical treatment is not as with knowing that taking fluconazole increases chances of spontaneous abortion if taken during pregnancy. It does not mean you could not use something topical and be fine. Boric acid, vinegar and benzoyl peroxides are options. I gather boric acid is not safe in pregnancy.

A variety: Topical medications for ring worm include:  lamisil, (terbinafine) mycelex, loprox, mentas & econazole.

Accepted Answer

Depends upon site: Ringworm on the skin not involving scalp generally responds well to antifungal cream.  The one involving scalp, however, requires systemic treatment for long period, e.g. Griseofulvin.
