Ovarian cysts: Provera (medroxyprogesterone) helps to shrink ovarian cysts (functional cysts). Usually the cysts will go away within 1-3 months. If you develop new cysts, your doctor may  place you on birth control.  Treatment of ovarian cysts depend on your age, size of cysts, your period, and symptoms., Most cysts are benign in women of childbearing age.

Possibly: I assume you were told about the cyst after having an ultrasound or ct scan.  The most common cause of a missed period in a female of childbearing age is pregnancy. You should probably take a pregnancy test first. If that is negative you can move on to a thorough work-up with the gynecologist who ordered the imaging study. Be well.

Not really: Excess bleeding in volume or timing is more often associated with a uterine problem like fibroids or polyps. Sometimes an ovarian cyst can throw off a cycle or delay ovulation.  But it doesn&#x27;t usually cause your periods to just be heavier in general.

Not necessarily: Ovarian cyst are not a natural part of menstruation.  This does not tell us if a menstrual cycle will come.  Ovarian cyst can cause irregular cycles.
