There are: a number of them. Sudafed is the most common. HOWEVER I note you are taking THYROID medication therefore I would check the use of ANY oral decongestant with your Health Care Provider!

my son is on vyvanse and has a cold; stuffy nose, nasal pressure and drainage, headache and cough; what otc is safe to give to him?

Vyvanse: I would avoid medications containing sudafed or pseudoephedrine as in conjunction it can cause increased heart rate and blood pressure. Most over the counter sinus medications do contain phenylephrine or sudafed. He can take regular robitussin or guaifenesin cough syrup. Sinus rinses are natural and work well for sinus congestion and mucous. Tylenol or ibuprofen are fine to take for the headache.

what would be a similar otc medicine to actifed and sudafed that is effective. those require a prescription now. have dimetaoo which helps a little, mucinex made the sinus congestion worse with less drainage. does heating pad, steam help much.

Drainage: Applied heat, inhaling steam and irrigating clogged nasal passages with warm salt water and using nasal decongestant spray all help sinuses to drain. Your pharmacist can recommend oral OTC products that decongest also.

Tylenol (acetaminophen): Why don't you try salt water first? It's natural and works fairly well for sore throat and drainage in the nose and post nasal drip if used in neti pots! tylenol, (acetaminophen) by far, is the safest for throat pain. Benadryl can be taken as needed likewise.

Treat symptoms: Use tylenol for fever, headache or body aches.
Use a netti pot or nasal rinses with water or saline for congestion.
Use non-prescription antihistamines and/or steroid nasal spray for congestion.
Honey, lime and whisky in hot water for sore throat.
It should pass in 5-10 days if it's a virus.

Afrin (oxymetazoline): Otc nasal sprays can be used for a short time (3-5 days) to quickly relive sinus pressure.

Yes: Yes..Be careful with otc meds and BP issues.

Insuff information: You need to see an internist to be properly triaged. Stuffy noses are common, orthostatic hypotension is a real problem that needs to be addressed. Do not know what meds you are taking, or prior medical history.

: If your vaginal ph balance is not between 3.8-5, bacterial &amp; fungal infections are more likely to occur. Your gynecologist is best to advise you as to what works best to improve the ph.

i had bv and did 5 days of metro gel for it. now 3 days after finishing i'm having white thick discharge, no other sxs. should i do otc for yeast?

Accepted Answer

No: The discharge is probably normal.  If you develop any related itching, redness, irritation, etc, then a medication for yeast infection would be more appropriate.
