Both receive training for three years in ophthalmology residency after one year of internship.  Both are medical doctors as well.  Both can do cataract surgery.

Do well in school: Ophthalmology is the medical specialty dealing with eye disease. Training involves 4 years of college, acceptance into medical school, and after 4 years of medical school completion of  4 years residency training in ophthalmology ( working under the supervision of more senior eye doctors.)  no one best college to start, anywhere you think you will do well academically is most important factor.
