Get seen: Throat pain and one swollen tonsil is concerning for tonsil cancer. Please get to an ENT or Head &amp; Neck Surgeon soon. This disease can happen regardless of smoking history so, please don't delay.

suffering a viral cold infection, but one tonsil is inflamed. it hurts to swallow salvia, open mouth and one of my ears feel blocked. is this normal?

Peritonsillar absces: If the inflammation and swelling seems to be one sided and it hurts to open your mouth and swallow, you might very well have a peri-tonsillar abscess.  Can't say for sure without looking in your mouth, but I'd strongly recommend getting this checked out now.  Very treatable, but can lead to very serious problems if not treated.  Go now to your nearest Emergency Department and let them check.

Inflammation: There are many possibilities to the sore on your tonsil. It could be from your immune system reaching to a virus or bacteria. It could be an aphthous ulcer, or even a burn from food. Please see your physician to make sure you are not infected.

Does not add up: A person has only two tonsils. Could it be that you meant to use a different word.
Wish you good health! - Have a diet rich in fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, milk and milk products, nuts, beans, legumes, lentils and small amounts of lean meats. Avoid saturated fats. Drink enough water daily, so that your urine is mostly colorless. Exercise at least 150 minutes/week and increase the intensity of exercise gradually. Do not use tobacco, alcohol, weed or street drugs in any form. 
Practice safe sex, if you have sex.

See your doctor: Without seeing you/your tonsils,this is difficult to answer.Infections of the back of throat and tonsils can cause pain and swelling.These infections can be caused by bacteria or viruses.Viral sore throats can be observed and treated with fluids and over the counter pain reducers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen.Bacterial infections require antibiotics.Please see your doctor for an exam.

Tonsil blister: Hello. It is hard to determine why your tonsil is irregular without examining you. It may represent a crevice or crater on the surface of your tonsil that could be totally normal. Another possibility could be a benign mucus cyst which also could be normal.  See your ENT for confirmation. Good luck.

Asymmetrical tonsils: When your tonsils are unequal in size, it is of some concern. This is an indication to have your tonsils removed. There can be issues going on such as lymphoma, not to cause you concern, because you are young, but you should have your tonsils removed. See in ENT.
