New problem?: If this difference in pupil size is new, it must be checked out by a doctor. An eye that is inflamed can have an abnormal pupil size. On the other hand, almost a third of people in the world normally have unequal pupils.

It can be: This can be due to certain medical diseases, exposure to certain medications and to certain structural abnormalities inside the head. This needs to be evaluated by your doctor.

Anisocoria: Anisocoria refers to unequal pupils.
Physiologic anisocoria is very common and normal in up to 20% of people. The variation should be no more than 1mm and both eyes should react normally to light.
It can be dangerous if it is a form of horner's syndrome (e.g. Carotid dissection) or from damage to the third nerve (e.g. Aneurysmal expansion) so you should get it checked out!

before bedtime one of my pupils gets a little more dilated than the other but during the day theyre the same size. they both get smaller with light shined in it still, but the one is just a little bigger than the other before bedtime. age 18?

is it normal that one of my pupils dilated after using visine?

Not really: There are several different types of visine .  Some contain a mild vasocontrictor (labeled"gets the red out"). If your eyes were sensitive to this chemical alone, and you applied it to one eye only ( or got more in one eye) then you might see some enlargement of the pupil on that side. Of course the visine could have become contaminated with a pupillary dilator. Consider also horner's syndrome.

my newborn has a very slight squint and her pupils do not dilate the same, one is larger than the other sometimes. should i worry?

Have this evaluated: This needs to be evaluated first by your child's paediatrician and possibly by a paediatric ophthalmologist.

Pupil size: Examining your pupils may give it give an indication of what caused your seizure as for example use of illegal substances may cause pinpoint pupils

: It should not happen and I can't explain why you encountered this rare adverse effect which could be called an idiosyncratic reaction. It is absolutely abnormal.

Depends on meds: Your surgeon likely used a postoperative mydriatic/cycloplegic agent that keeps your pupil dilated &amp; you ciliary muscle relaxed, both to ease postoperative pain. Occasionally, if laser endophotocoagulation is used during the vitrectomy, there is an infrequent occurence of residual mydriasis (iridoplegia) from laser damage of the short ciliary nerves. Most cases: dilation may last few weeks.

please help: i went to the eye doctor yesterday and they gave me the eye drops that dilate your pupils. they both constricted and went back to normal over a few hours. i just woke up this morning and now one pupil is bigger than the other?
