Throat swelling?: I don't know if you are referring to the throat swelling or not . If so, you need to consult an ENT to find out.  In the absence of nasal congestion, one would not expect steroid sprays , allergy med , or rinses to work.

i had a 40mg shot of kenalog (triamcinolone) today for nasal swelling, and am having an egd done on april 14th for other issue. the steroid can't interfere, can it?

Accepted Answer

Shouldn't: This injection shouldn't interfere or cause any problems  with your endoscopic procedure on that date. Transient rises in blood sugar, blood pressure, gastric acidity or some fluid retention should dissipate by then.

Depends: If 40-60 mg of prednisone daily fails to help after 2-3 days, nasal steroid will not likely work. but still worth a try.  Consult an allergist if problem persists. By the way, I recall having answered some of your questions recently.

if nasonex (mometasone) doesn't help fix the nasal congestion what are alternative solutions, i suffer from reduced airways resulting from middle turbinate swelling?

Congestion: A nasal antihistamine added to Nasonex (mometasone) can help, antileukotrienes can help but ultimately you need to visit an allergist, get tested to determine your triggers and see if you are a candidate for allergen immunotherapy.

Inflamed nose: It is a good treatment but some individuals improve by avoiding irritants or allergens. Others benefit from intranasal saline or cromolyns (nasalchrom) or antihistamines (astelex or astepro). Lastly if your problem is due to chronic allergies rebuilding your immune system with specific immunotherapy is a good idea.

Mgt: If you have fever associated or pain, an infection is more likely than an allergic reaction.

Honey: Look for a local bee keeper for their honey.  The local honey will help you with your pollen allergy.  Try a teaspoon a day in some tea or by itself!

Yes it is possible. : Yes. Or it could be inflammation/infection of an affiliated part of the sinus cavity itself.
