post aclr return to flight duty mri came back with this:
menisci: linear oblique truncation of the posterior inferior most aspect of the posterior horn medial menisci, consistent with a tear. 
what does this mean, is this a serious tear? no symptoms?

Probably not: Symptoms guide the treatment of inevitable tears in the meniscus, a cartilaginous pad between the two long bones of the leg. Nerves that sense joint angle, position in space, and trauma are in cartilage. If there is a tear that creates an otherwise harmless flap that catches or folds back with movement there can be an amplified sensation like joint lock-up. If it don't hurt, don't fix it

i have tenderness in my left abdomen area, sometimes sharp pain in lower left abdomen. other symptoms are lack of energy and when i touch my fingers along the oblique area its almost achy. should i be worried?

: It is not feasible to provide a meaningful opinion without taking additional history, physical examination and may be some tests. It would be prudent to see your doctor and discuss if you may be depressed. Counter-intuitive as it may seem, exercise may help. Start with low intensity exercise such as walking and gradually increase the intensity as tolerated. Drink more water. Wish you good health!

Tear: it means you need to see in orthopedist and get an opinion as to whether surgery is required

It might: A sneeze is a violent propulsion of air from your lungs/nose. That force has to come from somewhere, and that somewhere is your stomach muscles.

Surgery: Surgery is most likely  needed to resolve your problem.  Meniscus tears simply do not heal on their own, regardless of conservative treatment. It is possible that your symptoms of pain, etc will improve with time without surgery...But that doesn't mean the tear healed.   In fact, the tear will most likely get bigger leading to additional damage if not taken care of soon.

It depends: Arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn meniscus if the tear is in a location that can be repaired or excision of the loose piece of the meniscus   if the symptoms are that of pain, clicking or giving out of the knee. If you are not having any significant problems you can choose to leave it alone till symptoms recur. Good luck.

Partial prob.: At your knee arthroscopy if the meniscus has any healing potential then your ors can 'fix it' thru the scope.Your tear pattern is unfortunately not one that lends itself to repair.Tears in the peripheral1/3 of the meniscus have the best blood supply and are amenable for repair.Since yours is not(apparently) in this region it will most likely require partial meniscectomy.Good luck.Get photos...

Scope surgery of the: Knee. See an orthopedist. Use crutches for pwb and some Ibuprofen type meds in the meantime.

Surgery/PT: Plan for a pt evlauation and arthroscopy. See an orthopedic surgeon regularly.

if an mri reveals an oblique tear through disc proper of triangular fibrocartilage, will playing tennis/ golf do further damage?

Accepted Answer

Yes over time: If you are under 40 the tear is probably from repetitive trauma and will get worse over time with activities that cause ulnar deviation (towards the little finger).  If older the tear is probably degenerative and may or may not get worse with use.
