: "Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease" (NAFLD) has unknown causes, but is associated with obesity, and can evolve to cirrhosis in advanced cases.  Treatment is usually management of obesity, so see your internist for weight management options.

Stools: kinda sounds like some fat malabsorption going on.  Have you recently been started on metformin?  The main concern would be that the color you are seeing has blood in it.  Probably time to have your doc check a hemoccult for blood in your stool

Concerning: Obesity-hypoventilation is of concern as in time invariably strains the heart. You should start a weight loss program under the supervision of your doc. Other acute conditions cannot be ruled out with limited history available.

It is a constant rather than intermittent problem. Change in bowel habits can result from dietary changes, dehydration, stress, as well as other diseases of the colon such as inflammatory bowel disease. Ask your doctor is it continues.

Colonoscopy: You have reached an age in which beginning routine colonoscopy every five years may be indicated. Discuss with your family doctor.  The intermittant loose stools could be due to numerous issues, and would need more info and stool exam to tell whether further evaluation is indicated. See your doctor, and good luck.
