blood test says my blood type is o positive but on the part where is says rh factor it says negative. how does that make sense? mean something else?

It doesn't: It doesn't really, but here's what probably happened:  If you're pregnant and getting prenatal labs, in RH negative patients who've had a previous pregnancy it's typical to test for RH factor antibody (an immune response against RH+ blood).  This test is not necessary in RH+ women, but it was likely done by routine, and the result, as expected in negative since an RH+ person won't have RH Antibody

Oh, MUCH more...: ABO type, Rh type, and a screen for any unusual antibodies from other groups that may affect the safety of transfuson. Typing blood is an extremely deep subject and there are actually dozens of types with which I'm experienced and many more that I've only read about.

Normal blood type: Rh factor refers to one of two major blood groups for all blood types. People are either rh positive or rh negative. It is important to know your rh status for receiving blood products. Rh determines blood compatibility and is neither good or bad.

Rhogam works: Please be very sure you comply and receive future injections as you should. Back before this, rh problems were deadly and killed a great many children before birth or required exchange transfusion after; be thankful that we have something that has made this largely medical history.

Using : Using the ABO blood typing system- two parents with type o blood would have a baby with type o blood.  The baby may or maynot be rh positive.

Blood donor: Your red blood cells can be transfused into almost any other person who is rh positive. It has no implications for your health.

Cannot tell: If a mom has o+ blood type, and says her son is ab (meaning either ab+ or ab negative), there is not enough information to tell what blood type the mom's husband has.

O Positive: O + blood type means you have the rh antibody. If you receive o negative blood, which has no rh antibody, you are ok. If you receive o+ blood, you're ok. But if you donate blood, there may be a problem to the recipient, if they have negative blood type.  Any transfusion is preceded by a cross match wherein the two bloods are checked for compatibility to lessen the risk of transfusion react.
