i was wondering what are some nursing diagnoses for cholangitis?

Not sure of question: There are several causes of cholangitis, bacterial and autoimmune.  Bacterial cholangitis has several causes, ascending infection caused by blockage from stones (choledocholithiasis), malignancy or iatrogenic.  This is because bacteria grow in the stagnant bile upstream of the blockage and cause biliary sepsis.  Autoimmune cholangitis also includes primary sclerosing cholangitis.

Not sure: I'm not sure if there is an actual shortage, but there will always be a demand for nurses either in the home care market, the nursing home industry, or hospitals or doctor's offices.

Lacy white on cheek: Lichen planus is a lacy, white appearance on the cheeks and gums.  Should not be a problem to nurse with lichen planus.

Usually: Cholangitis is bile duct inflammation usually occurring secondary to bile duct obstruction from stones.  Bacteria in the bile duct are readily absorbed into the bloodstream from the liver and lead to serious infections.  Classic findings are right upper abdominal pain (not unlike a gallbladder attack), fever, and jaundice.  Some people are so ill that they are lethargic and have no pain complaints.

It depends: Depending on the age of your baby and what is going on, there are a number of possibilities. In a newborn, if your baby is sick, poor feeding may be a symptom. In an older infant who is eating solid foods, your baby may be getting more calories from the solids and more physically active (and also more efficient at nursing), so the feedings may be spreading apart. Good weight gain is a great sign.

Labs, U/S, ERCP: Classic findings include jaundice, right upper abd pain, and fever. Ultrasound may show dilitation of the bile duct +/- (the often-offending) gallstones. Endoscopy. (ERCP) may identify the bile duct obstruction and rx it via stone extraction +/- stenting.

Charcot's Triad: Cholangitis is an infectious inflammation of the bile circulation which in turn results in inflammation of the liver. The hallmark signs of cholangitis are known as "charcot's triad" and include: right upper quadrant abdominal pain, fever, and jaundice (yellowing of the skin). Cholangitis can be fatal if left untreated.

Pain,Fever,Jaundice: Cholangitis is an infection in the bile ducts that occurs with blockage of the bile duct, typically due to stones, tumors, or strictures of the ducts.  Bacteria rapidly enter the bloodstream from the liver, causing serious infections.  Treatment centers on IV antibiotics, aggressive supportive care, and, occasionally, relief of the blockage (typically performed by gastroenterologists via ercp).

The exit door: Ask your relatives or loved ones if you can live with assistance at an attached part of one of their homes.  Make sure you accept all the assistance they want to give you, and get a separate area/entrance to your spot.  Give them space, and make sure they give you your space.
