Numbness : It sounds like a nerve problem. I wonder if your use of the scissors caused it. It can be a nerve problem in the neck, arms, or wrist.

Hand numbness :  A stroke (or mini-stroke)  can have one-sided weakness or numbness like face, an entire arm or leg, problems with speech, confusion, dizziness, sudden problems seeing.  Thumb, index or middle finger numbness can be carpal tunnel syndrome  Little finger or 4th digit is another arm nerve. It can be a neck nerve problem. MS usually includes changes in vision.

Numbness and tingling in the hand that wakes you up at night is a complaint in over 95% of people with carpal tunnel syndrome. Wrist splints and elbow guards can help at night. Neuropathic medicine and compound cream will reduce the numbness and tingling too. An electromyogram and nerve conduction study will confirm the diagnosis.
