No worries: You may have compressed the nerves during the impact or they are being compressed by the hematoma - under the skin bruise that developed as a result of the fall. No worries. It will get better even without doing anything.

Nerve damage: It appears that nerve tissue was contused at the time of your knee injury and,although the nerves will regenerate somewhat,it will take weeks to months to do so. See an orthopedic surgeon if you have persistent pain,swelling or tenderness of your knee or limitation of flexion or extension.

See your doctor: Numbness in the knee following a fall could indicate nerve damage.  You should go see your doctor to be examined to see if this is the case - as some nerve injuries can lead to permanent damage if not cared for correctly.

It happens: The trauma to the nerve endings in the area &amp; some subtle swelling can make this numb for a while. It should return to normal sensation over hours/days.

Dehydration: Alcohol intake as a drug, causes dehydratiton and causes your electrolytes to be imbalanced.  As a result, the loss of water causes the potassium to increase in your system, which can cause increased calcium, and thus cause Lactic Acid to build in the muscles.  Decrease your alcohol intake and increase water.  Continue to stretch and exercise.  Slow the drinking down!

Neither x-ray or MRI have any direct benefit, though are widely promoted based on theory that a few details they sometimes reveal might turn out to be important, though that is not common ; rarely affect treatment in truly beneficial ways. Better find an experienced physician who focuses on problem solving ; helping you  understand body ; function.
