this year as soon as i step outside in the cold my nose runs continually and it's embarrassing! what causes this?

Runny nose in cold: This is characteristic of vasomotor rhinitis, where a runny nose or just nasal obstruction is triggered by environmental issues ,fumes,spicy food, emotions,lights It can be treated with topical anitcholinergics, astelin,topical corticosteroids or cromolyn. Discuss with MD/urgent care

ENT!: You need a good ENT evaluation.  You might have bad allergies, nasal polyps or something else.

Allergy vs. "colds": Allergic reactions are more likely to involve itching, especially in the eyes. Itchy watery eyes in combination with nasal congestion or "runny" nose is likely to be caused by an allergy. Tracking pollen counts may be useful for observing possible cause and effect relationships with allergy symtoms. If a fever or body aches is present with nasal symptoms think 'not allergy".

i use oxygen only at night. will it cause my nose to run the next day? i have noticed my nose runs the next morning like i have a cold.

Talk to your MD: If you were prescribed nighttime oxygen it is very important to use it. Oxygen can be delivered by nasal cannula or "blow by" and tends to dry out the mucous membranes in your nose, for which a humidifier can sometimes be useful. Please communicate with the Dr. that prescribed your oxygen if you have any concerns. Clear secretions may indicate you do have a cold- hopefully a mild cold. Good luck.

URI: Children can get 6-8 colds a year, especially if in daycare or school. Often the colds occur in winter months and can seem like a continuous problem. It is possible the child has sinusitis or adenoiditis and may need an antibiotic . You should flush the child's nose with nasal saline. See pediatrician or ent.

Sneezing: Your ideal protein diet is not related to your sneezing.which is not a response to cold temperature but to irritation by pathogen (bacteria, virus) or allergen. The runny nose may be due to vasomotor rhinitis, as a response to cold temperature and the best way to manage it is to prevent it by minimizing cold weather exposure.

i'm allergic to dust mites and i have an ionic breeze in my room but it doesn't help. my nose runs constantly  and it gets worse when i get a cold?

Ionic breeze?: Ionic breeze has little if any effect on removing airborne allergens. Besides your exposure to house dust mite dropping is from the pillows and mattress. Thus even a high-power air cleaner will not do you much good since the particles will get to you before the air cleaner.   Get a mite-proof encasing on your pillow, mattress, box spring instead.  You may have other allergies as well.

my baby has had a cold for around a week, nose runs, but now has fever of 102, is teething.  worry? or just motrin?

Age: If your baby is less than 3 months of age or has symptoms like persistent vomiting, difficulty breathing or feeding with decreased wet diapers I would have the baby seen now. If the baby is older and otherwise well, treat the fever and see your MD tomorrow. Remember you are looking at the baby and if you are worried always have him/her seen. All the best and I hope she/he feels better soon.

C an ENT specialist: that can very well be rhino-sinusitis (inflammation of nasal cavity and sinuses) which may require prescription medications, after this bout is over you may still need to be evaluated for allergies, it may be something in your environment, good luck
