: Nortriptyline does not usually cause insomnia. Actually, it more often would be likely to cause some mild sleepiness. There is no direct contraindication to using the medication if you have a RBBB, but you should talk with your physician about the risks and potential benefits of any medication that you are prescribed. started takin trazadone for insomnia. now supposed to take nortriptyline. traz makes my chest tight. i was told its ok to take both same time, is it?

Drug Interaction?: Even though two are prescribed by some doctors and in my experience are safe most of the time in small doses.
Having said that there is a theoretical risk of rare  but serous condition, serotonin syndrome  which may cause symptoms like confusion, hallucinatons  and seizure, extreme chanes in bp, seizures, increase jeart rate, and others
discuss with your doctor if you have any of these symptoms.

trouble finding psychatrist- dealing with primary care. she has me on nortriptyline for anxiety/sleep started at 10mg, felt great- my body adjusted , my panic and insomnia came back, did 20mg, same thing. its been 5 weeks, do i go up in dose?

Both same time?: Benzodiazepines almost always require a careful tapering down. Nortryptiline sometimes. Best not to do both at once and do each slowly. Head pressure is tough to characterize because it has so many subjective features, but insomnia may be a tip off to go more slowly.Withdra.

Anticholinergic: Dry mouth blurred vision constipation areost common--it's a 2nd generation antidepressant--the active ingredient of Elavil (amitriptyline) with fewer side effects--you can measure its blood level--some times the older Meds are more effective than the new ones

added 10 mg nortriptyline (nummular headache) to 50 mg trazodone (insomnia) with 60 mg cymbalta (duloxetine) (migraine). felt dizzy, drugged & weak so stopped trazodone. feel better, but can't sleep. what to do?

See a Doctor.: Having stopped trazodone just like that will affect your sleep. I recommend to try increase  nortriptyline to 20 mg and see if it helps you sleep better.

Depression itself can ruin a life!  but this medicine can also bring side effects like rapid heart rate, dry mouth, constipation, and sexual problems. If you're having symptoms you think may be related to this medicine, it's time to discuss it with your doctor.  Other options are available.

Older antidepressant: Classified as a tricyclic antidepressant, and considered of modest benefit these days due to significant anti-cholinergic side effects (drowsiness, dizziness, dryness of mouth, blurring, and perhaps effect on bladder). Confusion may occur in older folks.  Had some value in migraine prevention at one point.  Used rarely these days as better meds are available.

Side effects persist: Established blood level measuring and therapeutic ranges are available to guide dosing and provide feedback if doses threaten safety for example cardiac.  
Most abandon meds that provide significant side effects.  They can be unpleasant but can cause various medical problems in their own right..Weight gain, dry eyes/mouth, urinary hesitancy, sedation, memory problems.  All are reversible.
