Q: normal value of eritrosedimentation in pregnancy?

ESR < 20: The erythrocyte sedimentation rate is a non specific measure of stress factors in the blood. A thin tube of red cells is stood upright and the distance in millimeters the cells settle in 1 hour gives the number.For adult females the ESR is generally up to 20mm/hr.Higher numbers suggest more "acute phase reactants" are in the blood indicating infection or inflammation.It is a very non-specific test.

i am beginning my third trimester of pregnancy. i had a 15 white blood cell count on my last test, and then just had mine be 18. can this be normal? what might this mean? i have no symptoms?

: You can have a higher than normal wbc during pregnancy as physical and mental stress is common. However your wbc is significantly elevated(18000)  suggesting infection,preexisting condition or bone marrow pathology. I highly recommend consulting a hematologist for evaluation and advice. Discuss this with your obstetrician first.

Several causes.: Drugs (steroids, chemotherapy, immunosuppressants, rare aplastic anemia from toxicity of many drugs), viruses (ebv, hiv, cmv), sepsis (urinary or other), toxic exposures, endocrinopathies, vitamin deficiency (b12 in particular), hematologic disorders, cancer/leukemia/lymphoma are some of the causes that leap to mind. Seek maternal-fetal medicine and hematology care and best of luck!

Yes: White blood cell counts are normally higher than usual during pregnancy. You did not give the actual numbers. All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Having said that, I do not see any reason for concern.

Ok: EBV  antibodies  especially nuclear antigen will persist all the time after old exposure.
No malignancy normally Rarely associated with Lymphoma in immunocompromised persons

However, in the absence of labor, counts greater than 20,000 cells/microL should have hematologic evaluation. Note: During labor counts may go as high as 29.000 cells/microL.
