Infection, blockage: Gallbladders do not usually enlarge unless they are infected or blocked. This needs to be evaluated by a surgeon to see if removal is needed.

Likely insignificant: The renal length varies with height and weight and decreases slowly with age. Right kidney is usually slightly smaller than the Left. Normal size ranges from 9-12 cm (90-120 mm) and the difference in size should not exceed 2 cm. So the right kidney being "slightly" smaller is likely insignificant.  If you have the actual measurements you can interpret them using the above
guidelines.

GB ejection fraction: The normal gallbladder ejection fraction varies depending on the type of test which is used to determine it. Having said that, an ejection fraction below 35% is often considered abnormal. This does not always indicate gallbladder disease, but can be a sign of a poorly functioning gallbladder in the absence of gallstones. See your G.I. doctor for more details. Good luck.

i got my gallbladder taken out for sludge, but i am having some pains in the same area, i got it taken out in oct. is this normal? it's cold out too.

Not uncommon: About 15% of people still have pain after gallbladder surgery. Discuss with doctor. Your liver may still be producing sludge. Sometimes taking ox bile with meals helps. Sometimes a "liver flush" helps- see http://emedicine.Medscape.Com/article/192761-overview

Difficult to know: There is not much in the literature regarding gallbladder function after prolongue NPO, but there is a test that can evaluate the function of the gallbladder in percentage called HIDA scan with CCK. But you will need an ultrasound before to make sure you don't have gallstones. Any value above 35% is normal function.

can the gallbladder w/sludge be inflammed without person feeling pain? is it normal for gb to be inflammed but have no pain

Yes: Pain with gb usually when trying to squeeze against pressure like blowing a pea thru a straw.  If gb drains without pressure may not have pain but if sludge gets stuck in tube draining gb, ouch.  Also nausea and vomiting if pressure builds up.

if you had a gallbladder problem how would you know? would you feel generally ill? normal u/s normal lft. but still get pain right upper?

Malfunction?: You certainly can have gb problems without stones.The classic presentation is RUQ pain, radiating to the back, associated with bloating and nauseas. Most common after fatty and greasy foods. If this sounds like your issues, ask your doctor about a functional test, called a hida scan with cck injection.This may help clarify your problem.
