If renal function is abnormal, he should be evaluated by a nephrologist.

Any complaints?: You are  medical student..Set up for many worries...Hg has a range of normalcy. What about platelets and white cells? I prefer that you show the complete count  to any of your professors and have peace of mind. Residents in high elavations have high hg...And smokers too!

Don't tough it: Altitude sickness is poorly understood but people's suceptibility to it has little or nothing to do with overall physical conditioning.  It's more dangerous than people think. Take your time going to altiltude.

Keep the the follow up and take your medicines as prescribed. Kidney: involvement is unfortunately a common complication of Lupus and RESPONDS  very nicely in MOST cases to corticosteroid Treatment (Cortisone) This is best done when the involvement is "caught" early on! THUS...THE MONITORING!

Usually no: However, if you have a few red cells in urine, a concentrated urine in dehydration will have less water and although the count of the cells being discharged has not changed, the count per a unit volume, eg cc or cmm, may increase.  Normally ther should be no blood in urine. If you have blood in urine, confirmed by repeat, need to see a urologist.
