No: No, it's not normal. But it's also not indicative of diabetes (at least by itself). 2-hr glucoses between 140-199 are considered indicative of pre-diabetes (gray zone between normal and diabetes). However, if the fasting glucose is over 125, or the a1c is over 6.5%, that would meet other criteria for diabetes.  If not already diabetic, 10-20# weight loss could push diabetes further in your future.

You should be: followed closely throughout your pregnancy as this indicates pregnancy induced hyperglycemia/diabetes which I'm certain your obstetrician told you.

Good control: As long as your blood sugar is well controlled you should be fine but you are a diabetic and you do need to be on medication as well as a diet. Exercise also helps with blood sugar control. It is a good idea for diabetics to see an Ob before conceiving to be sure everything is in good order and to begin prenatal care early. Your OB will become your best friend because you will be closely monitored

Diabetic.: Your fasting blood sugar is so high that it alone suffices to label you as diabetic. Please consult with your obstetrician and a maternal-fetal medicine specialist to see how diet modification, exercise and medications can help you control your blood sugar. This is extremely important to your baby's future health, not just for the outcome of this pregnancy, but for decades later! avoid sugar/flour.

Probably not: Why would you think this a lab error? You need to be followed carefully and the test repeated during the remainder of the pregnancy and after you have delivered.

Options: Hi. Since an OGTT includes a fasting glucose in the test, you could do the OGTT to get both fasting and challenged glucose. A1c and random glucose are the two least sensitive tests for early glycemic abnormalities. Eat healthily and exercise regularly. Good luck!

Normal: Your ogtt is normal.  Blood sugars many times peak at 2 hrs and then start to fall, giving a bell shape curve, but your test only went to 2 hrs.

There are times you might feel unwell - have you ever checked your blood sugar when that occurs? If so is your blood pressure low?
Unlikely if your OGTT is OK but please keep a check on it.

It depends: The normal glucose level 2 hours after the ogtt is below 140mg/dl.  Levels between 140 and 200 indicate "impaired glucose tolerance" and above 200mg/dl confirms a diagnosis of diabetes.

gp ordered 1 hr ogt to test for hypoglycemia, citing 4.8 a1c in 2019. fasting gluc: 97. ogtt result: 67. endocrinologist said test unnecessary, was never at risk, results normal. gp said im borderline hypo, need freq. protein meals. who is right?

: If I had to choose I would put more weight on the endocrinologist's opinion. If you are not satisfied with your doctors, you may get an opinion from a different doctor, however, because  a doctor may not give the answer you may be looking for.
