See cardiologist....: If you are still having chest pain even with a normal ekg, you should see a heart doctor to be certain your pain is not from your heart. There are other tests that may be needed, depending on your situation, including echocardiogram, exercise stress test, etc. A cardiologist will be able to tell you for sure that your pain is not from your heart. EKG: It depends on the EKG findings. Some abnormalities might be due to fitness level. Just ask the doctor to explain the EKG findings to  you.

Possible arrhythmia: When you sleep the heart rhythm is affected.  Normally during sleep the heart rate decreases.  Occassionaly, one could have arrhythmia.  The likelihood fo having dysrhythmia is increased when one has obstructive sleep apnea.

i had my ekg reading done in class today and my professor thought it was a little weird. the axis reading of p-qrs-t was -1,8, and -6. is that weird?

Weird or not: P-wave axis normal is 0 to +75, QRS axis normal is -30 to +90, and T-wave axis normal is +15 to +75 degrees.  QRS is normal. P-wave borderline and if you are younger lower atrial rhythm leading to an abnormal axis is not atypical if heart rate is slower.  T-wave is “abnormal" but falls within borderline zone.  Number one cause of abnormal axis is incorrect lead placement.

Bradycardia: Bradycardia in a person who is physically very active is normal.  If you are performing aerobic exercise on a regular basis, do not worry about a heart rate of 54 bpm.  A heart murmur can be benign, albeit if you develop it later in life, you need to be evaluated; however, there is very little correlation between bradycardia and a heart murmur (far-fetched correlations exist however).

: If the ekg was interpreted by computer, the reading of a septal infarction may or may not be accurate. In.my experience interpreting ekg's for many years for hospitals, computer diagnosis of septal infarcts was often inaccurate. Was the physician who overread the ekg experienced in interpreting ekg's?  If not, you should consult a cardiologist.

Ekg : An EKG is a report of the electrical signals for only 6 seconds of the heart.  Those numbers seem to be within accepted physiological ranges. Normal is based on a complete history, examination, and testing when needed. An  EKG gives us a short picture of the heart. Like a picture of a person, you can't tell how it moves, functions, or acts. at rest or stress; or changing observing for more time.
