Tegretol: Yes. Tegretol can cause nausea, jittery feeling, imbalance, and flu-like symptoms if the dose is too high or when the dose is reduced or tapered. Tegretol also has a rare side-effect of aplastic anemia so call your doctor and discuss your symptoms.

Probably not: Driving is a significant risk for him and others if his seizures are uncontrolled.  Typically, patients with active  epilepsy are advised to avoid driving, operating power equipment, doing activities at heights, and swimming or taking baths alone.

LAMOTRIGINE: I do not know for what condition it was prescribed to you, my answer will depend upon the diagnosis and if you are also taking it with valporic acid or other enzyme-inducing seizure medicine  !  in this case Lamictal dose is reduced

i use 100 lamictal ..600 tegretol...probably 50 lamictal because tegretol breaks it down in half..am i even getting a therapeutic dose of lamictal?

Depends: If you are having poor seizure control then your aeds need re-evaluation if not then your current treatment may be appropriate
 
the combination can also be used for bipolar disorder. Most psychiatriast evaluate these drugs by the level of mode stabilization and use levels to monitor for toxicity. If your mood is still not stable discuss with your doc about adjusting dose.

Side effect of med: Tegretol is associated with both dysphagia (difficulty swallowing) and esophageal and gastric dysmotility. This can cause food and drink to stay in the esophagus for longer than normal and increase pressure in the esophagus which you would feel in your chest. Whether you are taking Tegretol for seizures or bipolar symptoms you should talk to your doctor about changing or stopping this medication

The same impact: Actual impact not quantitatively predictable.  The manufacturer of both citalopram and escitalopram did not feel the impact to be significant.  Tegretol can increase the clearance of both by inducing the enzyme CYP450 3A4.  If you are experiencing increased symptoms your caregiver should be alerted so that you can discuss dose adjustments.

is it ok to take both epilim & tegretol on an empty stomach? i take a higher night dose of both medications on an empty stomach at bedtime.
